Center for Nano-MicroManufacturing

CNM2 Fabrication lab at UC Davis comprises 10,000 ft2 of ISO 5 cleanroom space, housing nearly 60 fab and characterization tools. CNM2 has nearly 30 years of experience serving industrial researchers in a shared environment with academic researchers. More than 100 cleanroom users made use of these facilities in FY22, about 10% of whom were external to UC Davis, including researchers from 21 different companies, the majority of whom are small companies (<500 employees). Recent acquisitions have made UC Davis a leader in heterogeneous integration (e.g. III-V/Si) and high-density 3D packaging knowledge and capabilities.

Advanced Materials Characterization and Testing Laboratory

The Advanced Materials Characterization and Testing laboratory (AMCaT) is a shared resource facility in Kemper Hall at UC Davis that is available to all interested users, both on and off campus. AMCaT supports a wide variety of electron microscopes, including aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopes for the characterization of both hard and soft materials. These capabilities are complemented by state-of-the-art sample preparation equipment, high-resolution x-ray diffractometer, and a variety of different optical microscopes and image analysis software. AMCaT embraces and supports a multi-disciplinary user base. Access to the AMCaT laboratory is based on hourly recharge fees that vary depending on the equipment or service. Our professional staff is also available for consultations and design assistance for projects being carried out in the laboratory.
